Liberty Rescue Center was originally constructed as a small on-site health center to care for our children and elderly when they were ill and also provide free medical attention to infants and children from nearby families living in extreme poverty. Nevertheless, when Leidy and Alicia arrived at our orphanage weighing only 13 and 14 lbs. at the age of 4 and 5 yrs. old, our plans changed immediately.
From their suffering came the inspiration to create a center where we could cure children of the illnesses that attack their bodies from severe malnutrition. Discovering soon enough that the problem of undernourishment in Guatemala is an enormous but sad truth that many people do not want to hear or see.
Currently, we are able to treat hundreds of children that come from the streets abandoned, abused and suffering from severe illnesses. We are certain that there is still much to do and that our efforts cannot reach all the children that need our help, but united, we will be able to achieve the work that God has called us to and further improve the life of the children of Guatemala.
